St Michael's Primary School Competition

In Spite of the incessant, torrential rain the Primary Schools of the local area relished the conditions and gave it their all in the St. Michael's Grammar School Competition. In its seventeenth year, the standard is still very high and undoubtedly this augurs well for the Gaelic Football in the Surrounding areas.

Fourteen teams took part in the nine-a-side competition. It was obvious from the onset that St.Francis A were the team to beat and they certainly lived up to their expectations with a convincing win over St.Anthony's A in the Feargal McCOnville Cup Final.

The final of the St.Michael's Shield was a closer affair with St.Patrick's Derrymacash emerging as winners and also lifting the trophy for the very first time. Their opponents St.Brendan's Craigavon put up a gallant fight losing by 2 points.

All the young students must be commended for their enthusiasm and endeavour, but one player was prominent on the day, Aaron O'Hare from St.Francis Primary School. He received the Player of the Tournament Trophy, Sponsored by St.Paul's Junior High School.
